Are we losing the purpose for life? Or has the coronavirus hijacked our brain?

Due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus the whole world is under great tensity. The number of patients is increasing day by day. Our economy is facing a great fall; hundreds of people have lost their jobs. Everybody is hoping and praying relentlessly for all this to come to a halt but the question remains the same that “when will this end?” The havoc of coronavirus is said to originate in a meat market hub of the city Wuhan, China. Since then the number of COVID patients are accelerating daily, all over the world. In the midst of COVID-19, floods, war, and whatnot, the ones who are affected the most are members of the human race. With this sudden outbreak, the whole world was dismayed. From cancellation of our planned proceedings to an uncertain future, we are left to stay in a confined area and kick our heels relentlessly in an aspiration for a better tomorrow. From trying new Instagram challenges, experimenting in the kitchen, completing various series on Netflix, we have done i

COVID-19 Vaccine Cleared for Final Testing

Amidst this COVID-19 Pandemic where every researcher is busy finding an antidote for COVID-19, Beijing-based pharmaceutical company shows a ray of hope. The National Biotec Group of Beijing has cleared final trials for COVID-19 shot testing. Previously, first and second shots were tested on 1000 Chinese Nationals. Shot 2 was found effective whose data is to be revealed on June 28. As the coronavirus cases in China has reduced to around 350, Chinese Scientists are facing difficulties in conducting vaccination trials. For that, they are mostly depending on Middle-East Countries such as the United Arab Emirates. The UAE is still facing around 100 cases per day and after all the tests are done and results seen, UAE Administration has approved the Chinese Pharma Company to conduct its final testing in UAE. On March 11, the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 as a Worldwide Pandemic. Since then, several nations have implemented lockdowns for a month or more. Till now, around 9.5 mill

Increased Abuse cases during Lockdown

On the face of a medical and economic crisis of global proportions, one of the few silver linings on a very dark cloud was that the lockdown allowed some a much needed respite from the busy work schedules of offices, colleges and schools. It allowed them to breathe for some time in the warm company of their loved ones in the comfort of their homes. But unfortunately, even this slim positive is not without its dark side, with a sharp increase in cases of abuse witnessed in households all over the country. Even in the words of Supreme Court Judge, Justice N V Ramana, in a webinar, the pandemic has “affected rights of women, children and senior citizens”, “The lockdown has itself created psychological issues and violence within the family. Women have been burdened with more work; children have been unable to go to schools.” He mentioned, “One of the critical areas which has come to our notice was rising violence within the family itself…we also saw an increase in the number of instances o

The Evolving Virus

What had initiated as merely just a small panic in one small city, slowly grew and evolved into a global nightmare disguised as a deadly pandemic. The Coronavirus pandemic that has been encircling the globe for the past 6 months has created havoc, fear and fright in the minds of all. This virus has bound us all together by an invisible string of hope, for we are all fighting the same battle against the fiercest opponent. The evolution of the virus simply translates to the growth and progression of the virus and it’s spread to other parts of the globe, that slowly beginning to cause mass deaths all over the world. Early on into the outbreak of the virus, rumors enveloped the globe that Novel Coronavirus had a cure. Not only were those rumors a mere fakery, but also those rumors marked the peak of the virus and it only began to spread further from thereon. It was as if the virus took a one-way ticket all around the globe, with no intention making a return for it is still very much preval

Vaccine research

The Coronavirus pandemic has taken the world by storm, killing millions globally and causing extreme havoc to all. You’d think that an almost fatal virus like this would have a tested vaccine ready to cure millions. However, the controversial argument on the fate of the vaccine still continues. Research for a cure to COVID-19 has been an ongoing battle since the very first month of the outbreak of the pandemic. Although various nations have attempted to develop a virus killing vaccine, there has been no successful cure yet. Backed up by the World Health Organization, researchers tirelessly continue their exploration and analysis to find a suitable vaccine to eradicate the virus from affected patients. Various contrasting schools of thought have taken over this argument, either saying that (a) the vaccine is the sure-shot way to cure COVID-19 and is the need of the hour, and (b) vaccines will simply suppress the antibodies in our bodies rather than decimating the virus, thus leading to

Tokyo Olympics in the current scenario

With the outbreak of the lethal Coronavirus pandemic, the world has come to a global LOCKDOWN and almost all regular activities have come to an unusual halt. With that being said, the Olympics, the much-awaited global sports event that was scheduled to take place in Tokyo in 2020 has been postponed to 22nd May 2021 due to the rising severity of the deadly pandemic, making it the first Olympics games to be postponed in history. Postponing the Olympics games isn’t the most desirable option, but it certainly is preferred over the cancelation of the Olympics as a whole. Although this may come as a shock to us as an audience of spectators, we must divert this spotlight to the athletes, who have worked tirelessly for months, years and decades putting in all their blood, sweat and tears with the idea of the games in mind, only for the Olympics Games to be possibly cancelled due to the life- threatening pandemic. The Olympics games are not just a sports event; it’s every sportsperson’s dream s

The Importance of credible news in these times

During these trying times due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the world is in a state of vulnerability. With false news being shared across various social media platforms and Whatsapp “forwarded messages”, our vulnerable state allows us to accept the false news as the real news. More often than not, we tend to believe almost anything we read related to the COVID-19 pandemic as we feel obliged to educate ourselves as much as we possibly can, not realizing that this leads us to unnecessarily panic and hyperventilate over inconsequential pieces of information that are untrue and not supported by any higher authorities.  To educate ourselves, (especially during a fragile time like this), means to find the correct education, trustable sources of information and then proceeding to share them with loved ones hoping to educate them too.  What we seem to overlook is that not all “news” really is news, but since we are all in this state of unfortunate vulnerability, we tend to get dece
